Vassilis Tsabropoulos and Anja Lechner represent the cream of the crop for ECM Records. U.T. Gandhi is a new name for me, and his percussion adds a fullness to this recording.

[Art] Christopher Rådlund – To Trær (Two Trees) [2012]
A stark, beautiful lithograph from Norwegian artist Christopher Rådlund.
[Music] Werkbund – Haithabu
Many thanks to my good friend Miodrag Cheza Stojanovic, who posts some of the most amazing experimental videos. Werkbund (alias of Uli Rehberg) were a German experimental/post-Industrial project who made some stunning cassettes and CDs in the 90s.
[Music] Ferdi Tayfur – Batan Güneş
I wish to thank my Google+ friend and colleague, Mehmet Hanedar, for always providing me with a glimpse into Turkish, Turkic and Central Asia music.
Today’s artist, Ferdi Tayfur, hails from Turkey and was seen as a leading light in Arabesque Music in the 1970s.
[Music] Andrea Parker – Nobody’s Perfect Vol. 3
Andrea Parker produces something I hate calling trip-hop, as it seems so limiting. She’s on another plane in the world of electronica.

[Art] Charles de Sousy Ricketts – Don Juan (1911)
Charles Ricketts is a new discovery thanks to my daily perusals of Tumblr. This painting, completed in 1911, gives appearance to Lord Byron’s epic depiction of the legendary Don Juan.
[Music] Mihály Vig – Valuska
Mihály Vig, former guitarist of the indie bands Trabant and Balaton, has moved on to doing a kind of cinematic minimalism. Very relaxed, in the vein of Philip Glass.
[Music] Ken Hyder’s Talisker – Close the Window and Keep It Down (1977)
Ken Hyder is an incredible Scottish percussionist who has worked with some of the most interesting musicians in Great Britain, and as far away as Siberia. This is early material, thankfully reissued and available at Forced Exposure.
[Typography] Adrian Frutiger (24 May 1928 – 12 September 2015)
Very sad news from the world of typography, a passion I’ve had for many years. One of the people whose works I’ve admired for more than 20 years, Adrian Frutiger, passed away on the 12th of September. He was 87. If you know anything about graphic design, you will have surely come across his work.
TypeDrawers has an obituary for Frutiger here. De Zeen has one here.
[Music] Ryuichi Sakamoto – A Flower Is Not A Flower
Ryuichi Sakamoto has spent a career morphing from one genre to another, and essentially leading the pack.
