I am proud to announce that my dear and darling friend, Alessandra Celletti, has a new album out. She does an astounding job interpreting the works of John Cage, Arvo Pärt, Alan Hovhaness and Philip Glass in her own inimitable way, as well as a couple of her own pieces.

Sometimes a bit of levity is good to calm the nerves. Sanjay Leela Bhansali composed this charmer for the film Bajirao Mastani from 2015. Sumptuous listening in a time of hell.

Nino Rota is legendary in terms of composing soundtrack music, but I have to thank my friend Miguel Douglas on Facebook for turning me on to this gem.
Algis Valiunas of The Weekly Standard writes on one of the most ‘American’ of composers, as well as an essayist par excellence, Virgil Thomson, who is rightfully remembered by those who love literary criticism, especially when it comes to the arts. His fame deserved to be spread to laymen as well.
