Sam Beam hit his peak with this album. From the heartrendingly beautiful The Trapeze Swinger to his folksy cover of New Order’s Love Vigilantes, the album is a warm, relaxing listen perfect for my cold Beijing day.
Though Bernie Sumner has handled most of the vocal work over the years for New Order, there’s something pleasantly raw about this Peel Session version sung by Peter Hook. Next to Ceremony, this is my favorite track by the band.
