When I was collecting CDs from the legendary Touch Records label out of England, I came across the work of turntablist (for lack of a more appropriate term, as old vinyl records are his weapons of choice) Philip Jeck. The man was an alchemist as far as I was concerned, but I lost track of his releases about 6 years ago or so.

Anna Homler is a Los Angeles-based artist who sings using an invented language. Her work is utterly musical and listenable, while retaining its experimental edge. She also happens to be a friend. Imagine my surprise when Belgian artists The Hybryds released this two-part interview with Anna from 1992.

;dARM are an experimental music project who hail from Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. There is a wealth of unknown talent in the region, especially in the field of dark electronic music. I look forward to hearing more from this group, as well as other new talent from the region.
16 Pieces for Electric Guitar & Electroacoustic Ensemble by Santiago Fradejas
Because there is so much incredible music coming out all the time, documenting it is becoming a bit of a nightmare. Thankfully, I’m subscribed to enough Facebook music groups to keep me abreast as to what new sounds are popping up.
One of the best new artists I’ve come across is a Chilean composer called Santiago Fradejas. He works comfortably in the fields of electroacoustic music, post-industrial soundscapes, drone, improv and contemporary classical. This particular album really highlights the wide range of genres he’s able to tackle.
Santiago’s work is worth seeking out. It’s my hope that he gets signed to a label who can properly promote him, and soon.
Zoviet France at the time I first saw them were Mark Spybey, Ben Ponton and an absolutely amazing dancer whose name I never caught. The venue I saw them was called Jabberjaw, located in Los Angeles sometime in the early 1990s, if my memory serves me. The band left an incredible impression on me, and since then, members have been involved in many interesting projects. Here they are at their peak.
Octavio Paz is to Mexican literature what Jorge Luis Borges is to Argentine: a demigod. He is being honored by the Academia Mexicana de la Lengua for his contributions to literature.

As time is freeing up, I am considering posting press releases on worthy projects. If there are any interesting bands or labels who wish to put up press releases for me to post, do let me know. Please send a sample of the music and a press-release I can easily format into the blog.
For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been doing what I can to correct some errors, and it looks like the site is finally taking better shape. A wiki has been added where I will add links and other data to musicians, artists and others who interest me.

Lars Pedersen (When) is a Norwegian post-Industrial/Avant-Progressive/Proto-Black Ambient composer whose work never really got its fair due. I actually came across his work in several progressive rock magazines, as well as the seminal experimental publication ‘Music From The Empty Quarter’ (RIP), who didn’t quite know what to make of his work. If he is still active and making music, I’m sure he’s taking advantage of the upgrades in technology. The raw material he had to work with was bleak, unnerving, and quite amazing.
