Imagine Erik Satie’s most famous work reimagined as a floating, ambient piece of work touched with a wee bit of shoegaze. That’s what you will hear in Benjamin Finney’s EP. A sublime work.

[Music] Various Artists – Ocean of Sound – The 3rd Annual Report Volumes I & II
Words fail to describe just how important Raffaele Pezzella’s contribution to dark ambient music is. He has singlehandedly curated compilations from artists as far away as Russia, Iceland, Iran and seemingly all points in-between while concentrating on his own venerable work. These two compilations house 229 tracks covering the best of the bleakest, blackest ambient available at the moment!
[Music] 36 – Hollow
36 (pronounced three-six) are an ambient drone band based out of the United Kingdom. Heavy duty music for headphones, not quite Eno-esque, but it resides more along the post-rock side of the spectrum.

It came in as a promo, but as I had no Internet access, I was unable to find any information on the band. Thankfully, through the wonders of Youtube, we have information on this album at least:

[Music] Kickstarter Project: Jeffrey Roden Collaboration With Solaire Records

I was fortunate enough to meet Jeffrey Roden when I used to work at the legendary Aron’s Records, and would also see him at Gábor Csupó’s avant-restaurant, Lumpy Gravy, to perform. A true gentleman and scholar, as well as a great bassist and pianist, I’m happy to report that Jeffrey is now fully funded for his project, releasing three CDs with Solaire Records.
Here is his Kickstarter page, which launched this endeavor.

[Music] Robert Fripp & Brian Eno – The Equatorial Stars (2004)
This is one of the few times I miss a critically important release. Robert Fripp & Brian Eno had collaborated at least twice before for full albums, but this one is a change of pace. Perfect for listening on a calm, quiet day.
A salute to my friend Valtazar Zauberquelle for posting this.
[Sample] Marco Lucchi – Preludes and Fanfares
Beautiful dark ambient my Italian composer Marco Lucci.
[Sample] NichelOdeon – FI(j)ùRU D’ACQUA
Up until today, I knew nothing about NichelOdeon. It seems that the name is a monicker for Italian composer Claudio Milano, who is based in Fragagnano, Italy.
After going through a few tracks (this one being my favorite), I’m looking forward to seeing this project develop!
[Video] Karjalan Sissit – Kapitulieren? Nein!
Surrender? Never? Why would you if the ambient music you make is as brutal as that of Karjalan Sissit?!
