417.3 are one of Russia’s best post-rock bands, but they have a very low profile here in the States. Consider supporting their work, and the work of these wonderful post-rock bands which are coming from everywhere these days.
Post-Rock
[Music] Rắn Cạp Đuôi – In A Grass House
Rắn Cạp Đuôi, who hail from Saigon, Vietnam, came to my attention thanks to C-Drik Kirdec, who scours the most faraway places in order to find experimental music. These folks make fine experimental bedroom pop.
[Music] Akute – Płastyka
Though it’s listed as post-rock on their Bandcamp page, Akute would probably fit rather well in the indie and shoegazer music genres as well.
[Music] Imandra Lake – Küll süda teab (singel)
If My Bloody Valentine left a love child in the Baltic states, that child would grow up to be Estonia’s coolest indie band, Imandra Lake.
[Music] Sonar – Black Light
Cuneiform Records can do no wrong to these ears. Sonar are a band out of Switzerland who produced a tight, punchy post-rock that made for enjoyable evening listening.
[Music] Ólafur Arnalds ~ Island Songs — a closer listen
In Iceland, summer is a magical season. The sun never sets, and the shadows are sublime. The temperature is never too hot or too cold. For morning and night people alike, it’s a perfect time to explore the land of fire and ice. This summer, Ólafur Arnalds travelled around his native land, recording one track a […]
[Music] Sound Of The Day : Kauan — Wyrd Words & Effigies
I discovered Russian/Ukranian band Kauan and their post rock sound yesterday. I’m awe of Sorni Nai…a 52 minute single- song opus, created as a dedication to the infamous Djatlov Pass Incident. Below you can watch a video made for the first seven minutes.
[Music] 아이러닉 휴(Ironic Hue) – 작은사람 (For Melting Steel)
It’s high time South Korea’s indie scene had more exposure. Hopefully bands like Ironic Hue will open the doorway for more great post-rock bands from the country.
[Music] the stargazer lilies — the sunday experience
Stumbled across this via an interesting mid-season round up by the shoegazer alive 9 site. Of course you’ve no need for me telling you that the Stargazer Lilies are a much loved distraction around these parts given we’ve featured them on occasion. However, I’m suspecting we’ve an unread email / press release somewhere because as […]
[Music] Woodkid & Nils Frahm ~ Ellis — a closer listen
Today is America’s Independence Day, and Ellis arrives just in time: a calm yet firm reminder that the great nation still has a long way to go in order to achieve its goals. The short film (directed by France’s JR) and score (with narration by Robert DeNiro) remind viewers and listeners of the nation’s highest aspirations and deepest […]
