I want to thank István Csarnogurszky, guitarist of Silent Island and musician in several amazing post-rock bands, for this new little gem of an album. His guitar playing is as fluid as ever, and as much as I like instrumental guitar albums, Csarnogurszky is ably supplemented by Gábor Károlyi on bass guitar and Mike Vecchione, who provides drum loops.
Dense, but not overwhelming. A very pleasant album to think to, but it can take you places if you want to concentrate solely on the music.
This is another weird, nearly terrifying, yet wonderful work from the nexus of musicians floating around Tel-Aviv and involving Tamar Singer.
Necromishka continue the neofolk tradition, mixing it with some of the hallucinatory vibe which gave early Current 93 its power. The vocals in Beast of Prey, for instance, are slowed down to something so eerie that they should have belonged to a character in a David Lynch movie.
The other tracks give the feel of the soundtrack that should be made, if anyone is insane enough to try it, of Isadore Ducasse’s ur-Surrealist masterpiece, Les Chants de Maldoror.
Umor Rex is one of Mexico’s most important record labels, and I’m frankly surprised they’re not getting more press worldwide. Like so many cool modern imprints, they’re not sticking to one genre only. You will find electronic music, drone, indie-folk and experimental music well-represented in Dezember. Take some time to sample their wares!

Stray Theories, the monicker for Micah Templeton-Wolfe, resides in New Zealand, though he was born in Australia. n5md Records found a cinematic post-rock masterpiece in this release.
No, bodiless powers cannot be destroyed, but never mind the theology lesson for now. This release featuring Industrial music icons Coil, Soft Cell frontman Marc Almond and John Gosling (Zos Kia himself). It’s something akin to a holy grail for experimental music fans, and Cold Spring should be lauded for releasing this gem.
This comes as a pleasant surprise to Prince fans everywhere!
The Prince Estate, in partnership with Warner Bros. Records, has announced the release of the Piano & A Microphone 1983 album on September 21. The nine track, 35-minute album features a previously unreleased home studio cassette recording of Prince at his piano, captured in 1983. The album is available to pre-order now in CD, LP, Deluxe CD+LP and digital formats.
“This raw, intimate recording, which took place at the start of Prince’s career right before he achieved international stardom, is similar in format to the Piano & A Microphone Tour that he ended his career with in 2016,” said Prince Estate entertainment adviser, Troy Carter.
“The Estate is excited to be able to give fans a glimpse of his evolution and show how his career ultimately came full circle with just him and his piano.”

There are so many good neo-krautrock and neo-psychedelic bands that it’s almost impossible to keep up with them. It seems a new one comes out every day, and the quality is consistently great.
Take Expo ’70, a band out of Kansas. They tie together Krautrock with a minimalist aesthetic that balances out very well.
