Earlier this year, the Bigo & Twigetti label asked its artists to contribute a personal reflection of summer. This compilation is the result. Summer is a potpourri of presentations that opens up the question, “What does summer sound like?” For this listener, summer sounds like the opening track, Pavel Karmanaov‘s “Michael Music”: ebullient, with sparks and ocean droplets […]
Alternative/Indie
[Music] Susheela Raman – Yoo Doo Right
I’ve never quite heard Can covered in such an interesting way. Susheela Raman steals the show.
[Music] Swans – Love Of Life (Long Version)
This, for me, is the Swans at the peak of their creative powers, though, to be honest, they have not slumped at all since.
[Music] Hypnopazūzu (David Tibet & Youth) – Magog at the Maypole
Hypnopazūzu are a brand new group pairing the legendary producer and Killing Joke bassist Youth and Current 93 frontman David Tibet. Their first album will be released through House of Mythology.
[Music] Josef K – Sorry For Laughing (‘Only Fun In Town’ Version)
Though Josef K would re-record this song and make a hit out of it, this original version has a more raw, jittery feel to it.
[Music] Sound Of The Day : Kauan — Wyrd Words & Effigies
I discovered Russian/Ukranian band Kauan and their post rock sound yesterday. I’m awe of Sorni Nai…a 52 minute single- song opus, created as a dedication to the infamous Djatlov Pass Incident. Below you can watch a video made for the first seven minutes.
[Music] Suicide’s Alan Vega Dead at 78

Terribly sad news today. Alan Vega, singer of one of New York’s most incredible groups, Suicide, died today at the age of 78.
[Music] 아이러닉 휴(Ironic Hue) – 작은사람 (For Melting Steel)
It’s high time South Korea’s indie scene had more exposure. Hopefully bands like Ironic Hue will open the doorway for more great post-rock bands from the country.
[Music] Steve Jansen – Slope
Steve Jansen is best remembered for his work playing percussion for New Wave darlings Japan, but has gone on to making more sophisticated jazz/ambient recordings not unlike the music Talk Talk was making near their swansong.
[Music] Sound Of The Day : Regn — Wyrd Words & Effigies
I’ve been following blogger and dark style queen Mai Magi for well over a year now, so when she announced she was launching a music project I was excited to say the least. Regn is an ambient sort of project. Mai herself says that she ‘makes weird sounds with limited tools.’ Witching Hour is my […]
