A rather pleasant surprise from Pakistan, of all places. Qayaas is a melodic progressive rock band out of Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital. You can view the band’s website here.

Some classic Prog listening for the evening, courtesy of Garybaldi.
[Video] Morte Macabre – Symphonic Holocaust Pt. 1
Morte Macabre are a side-project of modern progressive rock giants Anekdoten. They blend a brutal symphonic sound with chamber-rock, something that reminds me of the Belgian act Univers Zero.
You can hear Part 2 here.
[Video] Museo Rosenbach – Della Natura
Museo Rosenbach were a heavy symphonic progressive rock band out of Italy. This track comes from their masterpiece album, Zarathustra, from 1973.
[Video] Il Volo – Medio Oriente 249000 Tutto Compreso (1975)
Peak-era pasta prog from Il Volo (in Italian, as there is a new Italian band stealing this name shamelessly), one of Italy’s finest symphonic progressive rock bands.
[Video] Czesław Niemen – Bema Pamięci Rapsod Żałobny
Czesław Niemen was quite an interesting character. He wrote a song Marlene Dietrich would cover, as well as one of the greatest protest songs in the history of Polish rock (“Dziwny jest ten świat” [Strange Is This World]).
This particular piece almost counts as something resting between liturgical music and something akin to Queen, with an almost gospel-like vocal feel to it.

[Magazine] ProgressoR
I love scouring the Internet precisely because I run into treasures like these.
Uzbekistan is not the first name one would think of when discussing progressive rock. The Central Asian republic is far away from any of the traditional power centers like the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy or the United States. It is several time zones away from Moscow and St Petersburg, where Russia’s small prog-rock scene is at its strongest.
Yet chaps from Uzbekistan (and a chap from Norway, apparently!), working out of London, do yeoman’s work in covering progressive rock releases for the website ProgressoR. These folks are passionate about the genre, indeed. Consider this a go-to site for those who love prog and its sub-genres.
[Video] Pageant – Vexation ページェント ヴェクサシオン <1987 New Version>
Symphonic progressive rock from Japan. I’m constantly amazed at how well the Japanese language fits in a Western musical structure. Fine stuff from Pageant.
