[Music] Dave Swarbrick, British Folk Fiddler, Dies at 75

I never wanted to turn my blog into an obituary list, but it seems that 2016 is the year to do that. The legendary violinist of Fairport Convention has passed on. The New York Times’ Jon Pareles writes about Dave’s passing here.
[Music] The Durutti Column – LC (Full Album)
The Durutti Column produced what I feel is one of the most perfectly atmospheric albums ever made, crossing post-punk, jazz and ambient music.
[Music] Cluster – Fotschi Tong
Cluster are the grandfathers of ambient and electronica. This is one of great places to start if you want to learn the history of electronic music.
[Music] Rajaz – I Talk To The Wind
The Giles, Giles & Fripp/King Crimson classic is covered amiably by Rajaz, and progressive rock band out of Brazil.
[Music] Rick Wakeman – Merlin The Magician
On top of having an amazing career playing keyboards and piano for Yes, Rick Wakeman also made a few records of magnificent quality.
[Music] Gianni Venturi / Lucien Moreau – Moloch
One of the more intriguing releases to pass my desktop in some time. Ferrara, Italy’s Gianni Venturi and Lucien Moreau describe their work here:
Art. Music. Poetry. MOLOCH is the conjunction point between two artists and their visions. A collaborative work about the concepts of capitalism, humankind, ancient cultures, freedom, with an eastern flavor and a hint of madness. But also a due tribute to great icons, such as Allen Ginsberg and William Blake. Electronic orchestral music meets poetry and words with a strong cinematic result.
[Music] Fikret Kızılok & Edip Akbayram – Yakar İnceden İnceden
Turkish rock musician and experimentalist Fikret Kızılok was one of the key figures of Turkey’s Anatolian Rock scene during the 60s and 70s. He’s paired here with Edip Akbayram, who still performs today.
[Music] Delirium (Mexico) – Delirium
There’s little more confusing than having three really good bands share the same name (the other being the Bill Leeb electronic music project, and a progressive rock band from Italy).
Still, this Mexican Delerium has a lot going for it, and will be liked by those who enjoy groups like Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Italian symphonic progressive rock.

[Music] Nekropolis – Musik Aus Dem Schattenreich (1979)
Musik Aus Dem Schattenreich is an avant-progressive masterpiece by German electronic music composer Peter Fröhmader’s band Nekropolis.
