Amon Düül II, the Krautrock legends, have begun making music and performing again recently. After nearly five decades, they’ve managed to make consistently interesting music. Here they are during their prime years.

[Music] Organisation – Tone Float (Full Album)
Before Kraftwerk coalesced as a band, they were called Organisation. You can tell where their influences mutated from.
[Music] F.G. Experimental Laboratory – Journey Into A Dream (1975)
Fine Kraut from the Swiss project F.G. Experimental Laboratory, the alias of organist Fredy Guye.
[Music] Les Big Byrd – Anywhere But Here
A new name for me, Les Big Byrd are a modern psychedelic music band which reminds me terribly of the legendary Krautrock band Neu!
[Music] Third Ear Band – Inverness: Macbeth’s Return / The Preparation / Fanfare / Duncan’s Arrival

The Third Ear Band were among the first British bands (who shared this affinity with Krautrock projects from Germany) to move into a field we now know today as world music. This piece actually comes from the soundtrack to Roman Polanski’s adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic tale, Macbeth.
A thanks to Al Clark, who picked up on the errata of this post.
[Music] Gwenno – Chwyldro
Gwenno are a band from Wales who just popped onto my radar. File under neo-Krautrock-influenced bliss.
[Music] Can – Geheim (Half Past One) [Peel Sessions]
[Music] Kraftwerk – Europe Endless
I’ve yet to hear a bad track from Kraftwerk. Thanks the my incredible friends on my Facebook feed who pointed me to this lilting piece of electronic music.
[Music] Twenty Sixty Six and Then – Winter
Fine, heavy, expansive Krautrock from one of the better German bands of the era, 2066 (Twenty Sixty Six) and Then.
[Music] RIP Dieter Moebius
Extremely sad news today. The Quietus reports that Dieter Moebius, one-half of the legendary Cluster, along with Hans-Joachim Roedelius, a collaborator with Michael Rother in their Harmonia project, as well as Brian Eno, and a source of influence for so many musicians who delved into making electronic music, passed away today at the age of 71.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dieter and Achim a few times as they would pass through my home on tour. I wish his wife, Irene, Achim and his family, and all those who worked with him, much comfort in the days ahead.
