[Music] Beyond Beyond is Beyond 2017 Summer Jam Sampler
Beyond Beyond is Beyond has begun to carve a place for themselves as the premier prog-psych record label in the United States. Their catalog features acts like Japan’s Kikagaku Moyo, Brooklyn’s Ancient Ocean and many others. This compilation is a great way to introduce yourselves to their racket.
[Music] Bandcamp: The Rich History—and Present—of Latin American Prog
Evolving, like all prog, from psych and jazz, the Latin American scene is full of imaginative fusion and wild technical prowess.

[Music] Sato – Efsanie (Legenda)
Sato are a band from Uzbekistan who fuse together progressive rock and folk into a pretty unique fusion. Though there’s not much information about them online as of yet, the venerable blog ProgNotFrog have a small writeup on them, including personnel info.
[Music] Corima – Quetzalcoatl (Complete)
[Music] The Warp/The Weft – Mapping an Absence
I tend to have the best luck in the world with unsolicited releases! Poughkeepsie, New York’s The Warp/The Weft send an album which blends folk, prime-era 70’s hard rock and prog into a rather novel blend of something a Tull fan could be proud of, never mind all you prog freaks who collect ultra-rare garage-prog recordings.
[Music] Discovering the World of Italian Psych Rock

Jeff Treppel of Bandcamp does a decent job of introducing new audiences to some rather wonderful Italian progressive rock, both old and new, here on Bandcamp’s WordPress blog.
[Music] 6 – 6
My favorite avant-prog couple surprised me recently with a release I completely managed to bypass. It looks like Amadine and Santiago Fradejas’ project, 6 (Seis), was recorded in their original home of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The music sits squarely inside the progressive metal genre, with powerful-but-restrained musicianship, a Floydian feel with vocals which would not compare unfavorably to James Hetfield of Metallica. You can hear touches of jazz here and there as well. Both musicians have come a long way, but you could already hear the raw beauty in their sound from this decade-old project.
[Music] John Cale & Brian Eno – Spinning Away
After a rather horrifying weekend of blistering heat, drunken fireworks popping everywhere and scaring my dog off, it’s nice to hear something happy and soothing.
John Cale and Brian Eno cut the album Wrong Way Up as a one-off collaboration in 1988. They apparently didn’t gel together so nicely during the sessions, but you’d never know it by hearing this track.
[Music] Release The Long Ships – Niche (first works)
Release The Long Ships is a project from Hungarian multi-instrumentalist Ferenc Kapiller. This is powerful post-rock, post-metal. This is Kapiller’s first album, and he has a pretty healthy catalogue now. Check him out.
