The proper title of this piece by Morton Feldman is Three Voices, for soprano & tape, or 3 sopranos (1982). It’s not one of his most famous pieces, but certainly is a favorite of mine.
Music
[Music] David Fiuczynski (Screaming Headless Torsos) & Roy Hargrove – Smile In A Wave LIVE
I can’t tell you what the name of the song is, but David Fiuczynski and band, with much help from the legendary Roy Hargrove, tear the roof off with this jam.
[Music] Flint Glass – Teotihuacan
Flint Glass are a Parisian band specializing in innovative electronic music. Too bad they don’t have more samples available, as this one is quite impressive.
[Music] Lonsai Maïkov – Paraklesis
It’s appropriate to celebrate the feast day of St Spyridon, the patron saint of my local church, with some Orthodox apocalyptic music, courtesy of Lonsai Maïkov out of France.
[Music] Shellac – Dude Incredible
Amazing. Post-punk with a brutal prog influence, courtesy of Steve Albini’s Shellac, which rose from the ashes of Big Black, and actually bettered that legacy.
[Music] Coil – Careful What you Wish For
Coil rose from the ashes of Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV. Though core members Peter Christopherson and John Balance have left this world, they left an incredible body of work to enjoy, and they will influence a new generation of post-Industrial Music artists.
A special thanks to my friend Christine Tesla Coil for posting this.
[Music] Lanterns On The Lake – Another Tale From Another English Town
Thanks again to Max Franosch, whose taste in music remains impeccable.
Lanterns On The Lake are a group out of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, who bring out the best of modern indie rock with a sound familiar to those of us who are a bit older and remember the heyday of the 1980s and 1990s, when the music was legendary.
[Music] Imandra Lake – Külm
For my taste, at least in this song, Imandra Lake sound like a post-rock band getting produced by Phil Spector’s tidal wave of sound. A really impressive new band from Estonia who deserve a large audience.
[Music] Ólafur Arnalds feat. Arnór Dan – For Now I Am Winter
Arnór Dan, singer of Agent Fresco, is a new name for me, but Ólafur Arnalds has a long and sumptuous track record of producing gorgeous music.
[Music] Romowe Rikoito – El Desdichado
Russian/Prussian neofolk act Romowe Rikoito interpret a famous work by French poet Gérard de Nerval.
