The Medeo Ensemble were a jazz-fusion band out of Almaty, Kazakhstan (then a part of the USSR). As far as I can tell, this is the only album they ever released, but it holds up nicely.
The Durutti Column provide a shimmering instrumental from 1980 as Father’s Day nears.
Gang Of Four never got enough credit as one of England’s finest post-punk bands. Even when they went through a pop phase, they pulled it off with panache. Thankfully, this is prime era GoF.
Gregg Allman, singer of the legendary Allman Brothers Band, passed away due to complications from liver cancer. Too much rock and roll can, indeed, kill you, but he leaves an exceptional body of work behind, especially this smoking track from a Fillmore East performance in 1970.

Padot na Vizantija (The Fall of the Byzantium in English) were one of the leading lights in the Yugoslavian post-punk scene. Singer Goran Trajkoski went on to participate in two legendary projects: Anastasia and Mizar (for a short tenure).
Chris Cornell took his life by suicide on the 17th of this month. He was 53 years old, and left a wife and a couple of children. He was also a fellow member of the Eastern (Greek) Orthodox Church. We offer prayers for a good son who fought a good fight in this life. May he finally have rest in his soul.

Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis died on this day 37 years ago. Time flies.

They’ve been through several singers since their commencement, and most were female, but during their stay in England, they came across a local singer called Jake Wilson, whose voice meshes quite well with their instrumentation.

Vice’s Dangerous Minds proves to be the only credible thing worth viewing, especially when it comes to finding counter-culture music gems like this.
