Geronimo Arafat are an experimental music project based in Los Angeles which has been in operation since around 2011. For those of you who remember the experimental music cassette culture of the 1980s and early 1990s, and love bands like The Residents, Sun City Girls, Merzbow or even early Nurse With Wound, this project is VERY much worth exploring.

[Music] The La Souterraine Label Keeps French Pop Freaky

Bandcamp breaks yet another amazing record label, this time out of France. La Souterraine are based out of France, and they cover a lot of weird alternative and pop music that flies under the radar in their home country.
[Music] Jurica Jelić – Patterns Within Chaos
Jurica Jelić has been featured before in this blog, and it’s a pleasure to announce that he has a new album filled with microtonal guitar compositions. Excellent headphone listening to drift off to.
[Music] 36 – Hollow
36 (pronounced three-six) are an ambient drone band based out of the United Kingdom. Heavy duty music for headphones, not quite Eno-esque, but it resides more along the post-rock side of the spectrum.
[Music] Everything is Terrific: The Bandcamp 2016 Year in Review

Bandcamp has become indispensable as a resource for me finding new music. A lot of my posts are beginning to revolve more and more around releases through the platform. It seems that 2016 was a banner year for the company, according to this report.
[Music] Mean Flow – Floating Thoughts
Mean Flow is a project headed by Theofil Tsiolakakis, a multi-instrumentalist out of Thessaloniki, Greece. He collaborates in this latest release with IDTAL (InDusTreeAlLace Productions) and Marco Lucchi, both consummate professionals and incredible musicians in their own right.
[Music] Sandlådan – Alppikatu
More, please, Neea!
Many thanks to Neea for introducing me to some fine Finnish minimalist treasures. Sandlådan seems to be the persona of one J. Kupiainen and Otto Männistö who also performs solo under the name Pahat Kengät. Their talents deserve to be heard much farther than my blog site.
[Music] MTD, Tracy – SM001V
I am off an on with techno, but if it’s cold and minimalistic, it’s going to have my attention. MTD and Tracy are two DJs working out of Verona, Italy, and are part of one of Italy’s finest minimal techno labels, Sonntag Morgen, one worth keeping an eye on as their releases have been so consistently good.
[Music] Cooper Raines – Storyland
My friend Cooper Raines goes by so many aliases (and yes, this, too, is an alias) that it’s sometimes hard to keep track of his work. This brand-new release, however, really stands out as a charming paean to old experimental cassette culture and the better, more cheeky work that bands like Nurse With Wound would make.
[Music] Daniel Dorobantu – Pamantul Straveziu
Our friend Daniel Dorobantu, whose ambient electronic work as a solo artist and with his group Thy Veils never ceases to impress, has a new video and release out. You can purchase this at his Bandcamp site.
