Faarwind are an ambient music band out of Kazakhstan’s former capital city and cultural powerhouse, Almaty. They produce a very gentle, lilting ambient music one can simply relax and unwind to. It blends in well with the natural sounds of the house, and the compositions have a very pleasant feel to them.

[Music] Paul Schütze – New Maps Of Hell
Australian-born, England-based composer Paul Schütze hasn’t been terribly active musically for a few years now, but not because he hasn’t been creative. These days, it seems that his passion is in making perfumes of exquisite quality.
Still, it’s nice to go back to hearing the masters after enduring a barrage of good, but not-quite-brilliant ambient music releases. This classic was first issued in 1992 by Extreme Records in Australia and followed up by Big Cat in the United Kingdom. Hopefully New Maps II will also be reissued forthwith.

My brother and I, and millions of boys and (especially) girls grew up with Duran Duran. That Cleopatra Records, undoubtedly the kings of the reissue scene, would release these demos done with former singer Andy Wickett comes as a pleasant surprise.
The Big Takeover Magazine has plenty of background information on this intriguing release, and do take the time to hear Girls On Film in a very raw, far less-polished but perfectly acceptable form.

HJ (Hector Javier) Ayala is a free-jazz/experimental guitarist originally from Mexico who is now residing in Strasbourg, France. His new release is experimental in the most relaxed and mellow sense of the word. A truly enjoyable release, especially since not only does HJ have his own style, but he references artists such as John Scofield, John Abercrombie (may his name be eternal) and even John Fahey (also, memory eternal). Gorgeous but challenging material here.

Veteran Deep House producer and dance icon Joe Claussell takes on Cuba’s most popular export at the moment, Daymé Arocena, and makes an amazing track that much meatier and more danceable.
[Music] A.M Ferrari Fradejas – Requiem No. 2
We’re treated to the year’s first Bandcamp surprise, thanks to our beloved friend A.M Ferrari Fradejas, currently based in Barcelona, Spain.
Despite its 13-minute length, the composition packs a lot of time changes, churning guitars, an eerie choral section reminding one of a solstice ritual melded with her trademark progressive/improvisational sound. I hope that either a full album is forthcoming soon, or that works in this style are further expanded upon.
