[Music] Luís Lapa & Pé de Cabra – O Homem Invisível

I don’t like the term noir for music unless it fits in a film-like connotation, but there’s something pleasantly dark in this new release by Luís Lapa & Pé de Cabra, two Portuguese jazz heads. The Saul Bass-inspired cover art gives it away, I suppose, but the music is quite deep.

[Music] Salah Ragab and The Cairo Jazz Band – Egyptian Jazz

What a magnificent find! Salah Ragab is the father of Egyptian Jazz.  He produces a sound that blends the best elements of the venerable genre, as well as bits of Latin, soundtrack, and even cha-cha-cha in his concoction.

[Music] Cosmic Analog Ensemble – Les Sourdes Oreilles

We send a mountain of respect to Charif Megarbane, head honcho of the Cosmic Analog Ensemble, for producing an album that combines the best of jazz, funk, noir, soundtrack music and deep groove. We’re looking forward to more from him!
