There’s very little information on Vittorio Camardese. Just as well. His hands do all the talking, anyway. Brilliant tapping!
Look for a documentary on his life and music to come out soon.

From the rather odd archaeological website, Ancient Origins:
China Daily reports the musical finds were uncovered in the tomb complex in Hubei province. A plucked string instrument was found, known as the “Se”. Thousands of years ago, the long, flat board instruments were fitted with 50 strings of twisted silk, and were instruments for the elite used in rituals and sacrificial offerings. Eventually the instrument evolved into the guzheng, notes Wikipedia. The se is one of the most important Chinese stringed instruments to be created, but there are very few modern musicians who can play the se.
Interesting, indeed! Read more here.

Winter lends an me an ear by Klankschap on Mixcloud
Christophe Ywaska, a rather good experimental musician, did me the kindness of turning me on to Klankschap’s most recent podcast. Well-balanced ambient music for a rather cool evening in Los Angeles.
Despite the odd spelling change, Billy Childish is still producing fine music. This is an instrumental track from 2013, courtesy of Damaged Goods Records.
A totally new name to me, but one of the most pleasant instrumental tracks I’ve heard in some time. Santur music at its finest. Worth a deep listen.

Anna Homler is a Los Angeles-based artist who sings using an invented language. Her work is utterly musical and listenable, while retaining its experimental edge. She also happens to be a friend. Imagine my surprise when Belgian artists The Hybryds released this two-part interview with Anna from 1992.
The Internet never ceases to amaze me!

16 Pieces for Electric Guitar & Electroacoustic Ensemble by Santiago Fradejas
Because there is so much incredible music coming out all the time, documenting it is becoming a bit of a nightmare. Thankfully, I’m subscribed to enough Facebook music groups to keep me abreast as to what new sounds are popping up.
One of the best new artists I’ve come across is a Chilean composer called Santiago Fradejas. He works comfortably in the fields of electroacoustic music, post-industrial soundscapes, drone, improv and contemporary classical. This particular album really highlights the wide range of genres he’s able to tackle.
Santiago’s work is worth seeking out. It’s my hope that he gets signed to a label who can properly promote him, and soon.
