;dARM are an experimental music project who hail from Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. There is a wealth of unknown talent in the region, especially in the field of dark electronic music. I look forward to hearing more from this group, as well as other new talent from the region.

[Review] Santiago Fradejas – 16 Pieces for Electric Guitar & Electroacoustic Ensemble
16 Pieces for Electric Guitar & Electroacoustic Ensemble by Santiago Fradejas
Because there is so much incredible music coming out all the time, documenting it is becoming a bit of a nightmare. Thankfully, I’m subscribed to enough Facebook music groups to keep me abreast as to what new sounds are popping up.
One of the best new artists I’ve come across is a Chilean composer called Santiago Fradejas. He works comfortably in the fields of electroacoustic music, post-industrial soundscapes, drone, improv and contemporary classical. This particular album really highlights the wide range of genres he’s able to tackle.
Santiago’s work is worth seeking out. It’s my hope that he gets signed to a label who can properly promote him, and soon.
[Video] Zoviet France – Come Infinite
Zoviet France at the time I first saw them were Mark Spybey, Ben Ponton and an absolutely amazing dancer whose name I never caught. The venue I saw them was called Jabberjaw, located in Los Angeles sometime in the early 1990s, if my memory serves me. The band left an incredible impression on me, and since then, members have been involved in many interesting projects. Here they are at their peak.

[Music] Fifty Years of Tape

I grew up listening to a lot of experimental music in my youth, most of in in the cassette format. It was quite something to have a cheap and easy tool to trade with friends, to purchase from very creative sorts who would hand-craft something resembling music from some God-forsaken place and receive it in my little suburbia. Though I prefer the clarity of digital recordings, hearing poorly compressed audio via a tape done by modern artists trying to look ironic has its charms. Thanks to Staalplaat’s Staalzine for posting this little slice of nostalgia.

A stunningly good podcast by Sonic Cathedral featuring Krautrock, shoegaze music, electronic music and some simply beautiful tracks.
[Radio] Music And Politics – Skopje
One of my old friends, Toni Dimitrov, runs one of the most interesting radio shows in Macedonia for experimental music, electronica and minimal techno. Check it out at your leisure at his Blogspot page.

[Podcast] Ultima Thule #901
Ultima Thule #901 by Ultima Thule Ambient Music on Mixcloud
Part of my daily e-mail ritual consists of sorting through scores of podcasts I want to spend the day (or evening) listen to. This particular one is a real treat, as the music is deep ambient music, perfect for working late nights. If you enjoy the work of people like Steve Roach, Robert Rich, Vidna Obmana or Alio Die, among others, Ultima Thule will make for rewarding listening!
[Review] Crows In The Garden & Nam Khar – In The Void Of Time EP

Perhaps the bleakest accordion music I’ve ever had the chance to listen to, Russian musician Kirill M (see his website here) pairs up with Nam-Khar, a project from Germany, on this self-released EP. It is well-mixed, eerie, and worth further exploration.
[Video] Cudù – Creative Improvisation 3
Cudù(Paolo Lotti and Luca Mazzantini) were a duo from Italy during the 1980s and 1990s who worked mainly in improvisation. The first time I came across their music was when they were recording for the now-legendary Materiali Sonori record label out of Milan, and their work stood out. A touch of jazz, progressive, and even a bit of a nod to Frippertronics. It’s really a shame they didn’t become more famous in the world of improv, but this, and several other links, catch their playing for posterity’s sake.
