[Music] New Post Punk & Drone from Magnetic Ghost, Remora, & Luka Fisher on Silber
A press release from our friends at Silber Media:
Hello,
Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you all are well. Doing my best to be thankful for the relatively good place I’m in even though life has been routinely difficult this year. But hey, life is supposed to be hard work anyway right? We’ve got three new releases ready for you now & then in just a few days the Christmas EPs will be ready. Maybe more stuff too as I’m trying to get out all the stuff that’s been waiting on me, some for over a year now.
Magnetic Ghost
So first up is Magnetic Ghost’s debut Loss Molecules. It’s a bit of a post punk & post rock hybrid. The thing it reminds me most of is Windsor for the Derby’s Difference & Repetition, which is an album that gave me a lot of ideas about music. Anyway, you should check it out. I agreed to put it out after hearing the first three minutes.

[Music] Taylor Deupree & Marcus Fischer – Wake
Taylor Deupree is practically a legend in the world of electronica. Marcus Fischer is a very new name to me. Judging by how well these two work together, I can’t wait to hear more collaborations like this one.
[Music] Ghoula – Hlib el Ghoula
Ghoula is an arist from Tunisia who makes an aural salad out of Hip-Hop, electronic music, North African ethnic instrumentation and whatever else he can throw in. It’s nice to hear real fusion still being made.
[Music] Janko Nilović – Funky Tramway
One of the 70’s greatest funk albums didn’t come from the United States, Great Britain, Germany, or even Africa, for that matter. This gem came from Montenegro, which was then part of Yugoslavia, and it came from a very fruitful period Janko Nilović had from 1968 to 1978.
[Music] Rắn Cạp Đuôi – In A Grass House
Rắn Cạp Đuôi, who hail from Saigon, Vietnam, came to my attention thanks to C-Drik Kirdec, who scours the most faraway places in order to find experimental music. These folks make fine experimental bedroom pop.
[Music] Murkok – My Friend Is Ivan Efremov EP
Something calm, soothing and lovely to relax to after watching people make utter animals out of themselves the last 24 hours. Many thanks to Murkok for this treasure.
[Music] Pahat Kengät – Tanssimusiikkia
I wish to thank my friend Neea for introducing me to one of the most enjoyable pieces of work I’ve heard in some time, allowing me to get lost in my work. Fans of minimalist composers like Steve Reich and the early Berlin Electronic School of Music will enjoy this. Pahat Kengät sit comfortably between Krautrock, contemporary classical music, New Age and a mellow form of techno.
[Music] Cousin Silas – A Quiet Night In Point Pleasant
9 minutes of deep listening, courtesy of Cousin Silas, one of my favorite new ambient artists.
