Portishead, the undisputed kings and queen of Trip-Hop, perform in the hamlet which bears their band name.

[Sample] Lubomyr Melnyk – The Six Day Moment
Today must be a great day for piano music, as it’s been on my mind. Lubomir Melnyk is a composer and pianist who hails from Ukraine (and now residing in Canada) who records for Erased Tapes. He’s a relatively new name to me, and certainly, after this sample, he’s worth exploring.
[Video] Mike Oldfield Story (BBC Documentary)
Such an incredible story. A 17-year-old creates the masterpiece of the 1970s in Tubular Bells, almost loses his mind doing it, and has to struggle to break free from that monster of a record.

[Podcast] ‘Queasy Listening 20150126’ by Cloudy Grey
Queasy Listening 20150126 by Cloudy Grey on Mixcloud
If you are a fan of post-Industrial avant-garde music, Cloudy Grey is going to be mandatory listening for you. Their ‘Queasy Listening’ series is an amazing walk back in time, and is doing a fine job hipping the kids to newer artists as well.
With so many amazing podcasts, it’s time to consider interviewing a few of these people for more exposure.
[Video] Tangerine Dream – Phaedra (Complete Album) / Edgar Froese R.I.P.
Jerome Froese, son of Edgar and a fine musician in his own right, bring terrible news that his father, the linchpin of Tangerine Dream, has passed away. We post my favorite album by the band, Phaedra, in his memory.
[Sample] Raymond M – Unidentified Threads EP
Something rhythmic, reminding me of old post-Industrial cassette culture, touched with This Heat, courtesy of Raymond M.
[Sample] Sōzu – Terra Australis Reliquendum [Terra Australis]
Sōzu is a project from Italy run by Paolo Mascolini. He’s become a favorite on my Soundcloud feed. This particular piece, about 15 minutes in length, goes into cosmic territory, mixing a Floyd-ish dreamscape with early ambient and Krautrock/Kosmische Musik flourishes.
[Video] Yann Tiersen – In Our Minds (Last.fm Lightship95 Series)
Yann Tiersen at his minimalist, near-heartbreaking best.
[Podcast] ‘Haunted’ by Christina Liveri
Haunted by Christina Liveri on Mixcloud
One of my favorite podcasters out of Greece, Christina touches on tracks by U.N.K.L.E., Dead Can Dance, and many others. A worthy follow (would you expect any less?).
[Video] UNKLE (with Ian Astbury) – Burn My Shadow
How on Earth did I miss out on this one? Ian Astbury must have been on haitus from The Cult while making this track for the electronic music group U.N.K.L.E. His voice is in very good form here, and U.N.K.L.E. provide a perfect backdrop for it.
