Sunday’s listening was good enough with Robert Görl of DAF, but add to this a gorgeous, floating, dancing Anna Karina, and you have the visual stimulation for a delightful evening’s viewing, too.

[Music] Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack to banned masterpiece Teorema reissued on vinyl

Vinyl Factory Blog reports the wonderful news that Ennio Morricone will receive the vinyl reissue treatment for the soundtrack to one of Italy’s most notorious directors, Pier Paolo Pasolini, and his banned cult hit, Teorema.
Easy/cheesy/sleazy listening for all! A slice of the soundtrack is provided below:
[Music] Edda Dell’Orso – The Wordless Song (Extended Version)
Wonderfully tacky scatting by Edda Dell’orso from the movie They Came To Rob Vegas! The soundtrack was composed by Georges Garvarentz.
[Music] Edward Artemiev – Solaris Theme – Full Bach
For my ears, Edward Artemiev’s Solaris soundtrack is absolutely perfect listening, especially this interpretation on the work of Johann Sebastian Bach (the chorale prelude to Ich ruf’ zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ (BWV 639)) using an ANS synthesizer.

On December 9, Kirk Douglas becomes a centenarian. The UCLA Film & Television Archive will be doing a retrospective of his work this year.
Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Times writes on the event here.
[Film] Bicycle Thieves (1948) — Speakeasy
[Film] Viy (Directed by Alexander Ptushko, Konstantin Yershov, George Kropachev)
To my knowledge, Viy (Вий) is the only horror movie ever made in the Soviet Union. If someone could correct me on that, I’d be much obliged.
The film was adapted from the work of the same name by one of my favorite writers, Nikolai Gogol.
[Film] Auguste & Louis Lumière – Workers Leaving the Lumiere Factory (1895)
This is the beginning of the motion picture industry, believe it or not. Brothers Auguste & Louis Lumière produced this short film of workers going in and out of their factory in 1895. The world is still reeling from the consequences of this action.
[Music] Alessandra Celletti – Concert In A Snowball
