The Male Choir of the China People’s Armed Police are a revelation to me. They have the same power as the old Red Army Choir, and the same ability to make some lovely music choices. This piece, Suliko, is a Georgian folk tune.

Let yourself have a funky ass Christmas with James Brown.
[Music] The Durutti Column – Snowflakes
Not quite “Jingle Bells,” but it’s still some lovely post-punk/new wave music which fits the season nicely, courtesy of Vini Reilly and the Durutti Column.
[Music] Modrý Efekt – Svitanie
Modrý Efekt (Blue Effect) were one of the great Czechoslovakian art rock bands of the 1970s.
We were given the bad news that their leader and guitarist, Radim Hladík, passed away today. Rest in peace.
[Music] Gene Autry – Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
Gene Autry almost got snookered into calling Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer Randolph. He dodged a bullet.
[Music] Paul Haig – Christiana
Have a post-punk Christmas with Paul Haig, former singer of Josef K and Rhythm of Life.
[Music] Vince Guaraldi Trio – O Tannenbaum
San Francisco’s Vince Guaraldi’s contribution to Christmas is this evergreen, O Tanenbaum, part of the soundtrack to “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
[Music] Nat ‘King’ Cole – The Christmas Song (1961)
No need to introduce this one. Let Nat ‘King’ Cole croon to you.
