Mickey Hart made his fame as a drummer for the Grateful Dead, whom I enjoyed greatly (at least in their live settings). He was also a big fan of Indian music, and really did a lot with his Diga Rhythm Band project to promote it. In this track, it sounds like exotica, innovative Latin percussion, and a touch of India deep inside.
He is joined in this track by Indian tabla player Zakir Hussain.

I can’t get enough of cheese-ball Euro-trash soundtracks, so coming across a gem like this on Bandcamp made my day! It’s for Das Mädchen von Hongkong, a film from 1973, and Black Pearl Records deserves all credit for hipping the world to this digital album.
Sure, people thought he was corny, and some of his poems were a bit… well… difficult to read without either giggling or smirking on occasion. But those albums of his… Truly masterful easy listening.
RIP, Rod McKuen. News on his passing can be read here, courtesy of Yahoo!

PMB158: Outer Realms by Project Moonbase on Mixcloud
Mixcloud, by itself, is proving to be a wonderful tool with little treasures worth sharing. One of my favorite recent podcasts comes from the United Kingdom is Project Moonbase, where DJ Bongoboy and MC Zirconium play some of the corniest, cheesiest and charming lounge, sci-fi, exotica and other sundry novelties.
The Exotic Sounds Of Les Baxter by Adam Kvasnica on Mixcloud
Many thanks to one of the coolest DJs in the Mixcloud universe, Adam Kvasnica from Slovakia, for spinning this great set filled with cheesy lounge goodness from the inimitable Les Baxter!
