September 4 is one of those Bandcamp Fridays where the company doesn’t take its normal commission in order for the artists to either make a bit more money or donate it to the cause of their choice. Though well over 1,500 releases flooded by email inbox today, there was one which came to me from … Continue reading [Music] Various Artists – Anthology Of Persian Experimental Music Vol. II
Reza Solapitour is a dark ambient musician based out of Tehran, Iran, discovered by the best ears in experimental music, Raffaele Pezzella of Eighth Tower Records. The album is booming, eerie and spacious, as though one had the sensation of floating in a cave. Quite a powerful release.
Never think that the Middle East is ignorant of current musical (or anti-musical) trends. They are probably better informed that a fair amount of their Western colleagues, and are making music that proves it. Once again, many thanks to the brilliant Raffaele Pezzella for being such a visionary. From the Unexplained Sounds Group Bandcamp site: … Continue reading [Music] Various Artists – Anthology of Contemporary Music From Middle East
Raffaele Pezzella of Eighth Tower Records continues to show what a magical ear he has for new music artists. His latest release is by composer Scottish composer Michael Bonaventure, who makes full use out of the organ. Most of these names are quite new to me, but all show the potential to provide scores of impressive releases as time passes. This is a great snapshot into the field of avant-garde music from … Continue reading [Music] Various Artists – Anthology of Contemporary Music From Africa Continent
Noise music gets a well-deserved rap, considering how much garbage there is in the scene. However, our friend Raffaele Pezzella, a.k.a. Sonologyst and the head of Unexplained Sounds, gives us our first compilation of 2019, where noise is turned into something far more beautiful than you thought.
Unexplained Sounds empresario Raffaele Pezzella is on a quest to make sure the best in experimental and electroacoustic music gets published. It seems like, week after week, he is releasing a compilation of stunning quality from a specified region, a broad retrospective, or his own delightfully noisy work as Sonologyst. These tracks might melt your headphones … Continue reading [Music] Various Artists – ELECTROFRAMEWORK

Words fail to describe just how important Raffaele Pezzella’s contribution to dark ambient music is. He has singlehandedly curated compilations from artists as far away as Russia, Iceland, Iran and seemingly all points in-between while concentrating on his own venerable work. These two compilations house 229 tracks covering the best of the bleakest, blackest ambient … Continue reading [Music] Various Artists – Ocean of Sound – The 3rd Annual Report Volumes I & II
